Considering the Oxford dictionary's definition of what a "role model" is, I define it as a person that others consider an individual of excellent conduct so much that it sets a standard for that behavior. In my own professional vision and trajectory, I have noticed and recognized the following individuals as excellent role models to a particular job role or personal attribute that I inspire to become too.

Josรฉ
Antonio Arroyo Pรฉrez
Some time in 2020, I listened to an online transfusion research public presentation
in Spanish hosted by the Mexican National Center for Blood Transfusion and
Banking of the Secretary of Federal Health, where Josรฉ was the modulator as an
employee of the center. Although I also listened to the other guest speakers, I was most impressed with Josรฉ's professional experiences. I saw him as an excellent leader serving our nation - Mexico. It inspired me to be as great of a scientist and professional as him no matter where life would take me. His own success for himself became an inspiration and excellent role model for me. Although I have not had a chance to speak with Josรฉ directly, I am fortunate to have heard him present and seen some of his work. ¡Gracias Josรฉ!

Roberto Vasquez-Muรฑos
Some time in 2020 while living in San Diego-CA, I met someone from the Center of Scientific Research and Higher Education (CICESE) in Ensenada, Baja California. Coming from San Diego, myself, Ensenada had been a 2-hour drive southbound, and I visited a few times. It was always mesmerizing to see the national boats full of cargo inbound and outbound from the country. It was always a fun time to eat fried fish from Ensenada's famous fish market. I was curious about the type of lifestyle the local researchers of Ensenada had and that led me to do an online search on CICESE's research, faculty, and publication pages. That's when and how I stumbled on Roberto's profile.
I found Roberto's research experiences in nanomedicine, in particularly his work in mixing nanoparticles (NPs) and microbial life, to assess the toxicity levels of NPs, impressive. Coming from UC San Diego's Department of Chemical and Nanoengineering, myself, I had been studying NPs too and from what I read on his publications I found it interesting and familiar his methods used for synthesizing NPs. Around May 2022, I also saw an online presentation by Roberto addressing his ongoing research in antibiotic resistant pathogens in oral surgeries. I took the bravery to add Roberto on LinkedIn and had a small conversation. ¡Gracias Roberto!

ไธๅณถ็ฑ็ดๅคซ | Yukio MISHIMA
(January 1925 to November 1970)

In January 2014, I started to learn Japanese because I wanted to obtain a new perspective in life and was always curious about what makes the Japanese culture and Japan's citizen so tick. In the process of achieving an advanced level with Japanese, in September 2015, I learned about the life of Yukio Mishima - author, poet, playwright, actor, and model. I saw some of his movies and read some of his books. He then became one of my favorite authors as I was so impressed with the theme of his works and captivity of life before the early stages of the internet and how some aspects of that way of life is still present today (and even my own).
I admire Yukio's intellect, strength, and courage. His passion and love for his nation and culture urges me to reflect on my own national ideologies and sense of identity. If I were alive in that time, I wouldn't know what to tell him. Aside from his books and movies, I have also purchased a copy of his recorded seppoku in DVD while living in Osaka, Japan. I keep it in honor of his life as one of his fans. Thank you Mr. Yukio Mishima.
